Website Terms of Use
Effective date: September 3, 2026
These Terms govern the use of the Tender Threads Counselling & Psychotherapy website. By using the website, you agree to these Terms. Clinical services are also governed by the informed consent, fee, cancellation, and service agreements provided before care begins.
1. General information only
Website content is provided for general educational and informational purposes. It is not psychotherapy, medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, legal advice, or a substitute for assessment by an appropriate professional.
Do not make or delay a health or safety decision solely because of information on this website.
2. No automatic therapist client relationship
Viewing the website, completing an inquiry form, sending an email, or booking a consultation does not by itself create a therapist client relationship.
A clinical relationship begins when a clinician has agreed to provide care and the required consent and service arrangements have been completed. A free consultation is intended to discuss fit, services, and logistics. It is not psychotherapy unless the clinician expressly states otherwise.
3. Emergencies and urgent concerns
The website, email, contact forms, and social media accounts are not continuously monitored and must not be used for emergencies.
If you are in immediate danger or require urgent medical help, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. If you or someone you know is thinking about suicide, call or text 988 in Canada. Support is available 24 hours a day.
4. Virtual services and client location
Services are available only where the selected clinician is legally and professionally permitted to practise and has appropriate insurance coverage. Availability varies according to clinician, client location, age, clinical fit, safety needs, and current capacity.
Clients must provide accurate location and contact information and confirm their physical location when reasonably requested for virtual sessions. Travel or relocation may affect whether a clinician can continue providing service.
Advertising a service on the website does not guarantee that every clinician can provide it in every province or territory.
5. Minors, couples, and authorized representatives
Where services are requested for a minor, couple, family, or person represented by a substitute decision maker, the clinician will assess consent, capacity, confidentiality, and record arrangements before care begins.
Completing a form for another person does not by itself establish legal authority to consent to treatment or access their information.
6. Booking and Jane
Booking, forms, payment, and secure portal services may be provided through Jane. Jane’s user facing terms and privacy information may also apply when using its interface.
Appointments are not guaranteed until confirmed. Tender Threads may decline, redirect, or discontinue a requested service where a clinician is unavailable, not authorized in the client’s location, or unable to provide appropriate and safe care. Where appropriate, reasonable referral information may be offered.
7. Fees, cancellations, and insurance
Current fees and availability are displayed through Jane or communicated before booking. Cancellation, missed appointment, payment, and refund terms are provided in the applicable service agreement.
Insurance coverage varies according to plan, clinician designation, and service. Clients are responsible for confirming coverage directly with their insurer. Tender Threads does not guarantee reimbursement. Receipts identify the clinician who provided the service.
8. Privacy and communications
Use of personal information is governed by the Privacy Policy and applicable consent documents. Ordinary email, general website forms, and social media messages may not be fully secure. Do not use them for detailed clinical information or urgent concerns.
9. Website content and intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, website text, graphics, branding, downloads, and other original materials belong to Tender Threads or are used with permission. You may view or print materials for personal and noncommercial use.
You may not reproduce, sell, modify, republish, or distribute substantial portions of the website for commercial use without written permission. Properly attributed sharing of an ordinary website link is permitted.
10. Appropriate use
You must not attempt to interfere with website security, gain unauthorized access, introduce malicious code, impersonate another person, submit unlawful or misleading information, scrape protected content, or use the website in a manner that violates applicable law or another person’s rights.
11. External links
The website may link to Jane, crisis resources, professional organizations, or other third party websites. External websites are governed by their own content, availability, privacy practices, and terms. A link does not necessarily constitute an endorsement.
Nothing in this section removes any responsibility Tender Threads has for a provider processing information on its behalf.
12. Accuracy and service outcomes
We make reasonable efforts to keep website information accurate and current, but content, fees, availability, service areas, and resources may change.
Clinician profiles describe training and areas of focus. They do not guarantee suitability, availability, or a particular clinical outcome. Psychotherapy outcomes vary, and no result is promised.
13. Limitation of responsibility
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Tender Threads is not responsible for losses arising solely from reliance on general website information, temporary website unavailability, or the independent content of an external website.
This limitation does not apply to professional services governed by separate informed consent and professional duties. It does not limit responsibility or legal rights that cannot lawfully be limited, including applicable privacy, consumer protection, and professional regulation rights.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and applicable federal laws of Canada, without limiting mandatory rights under laws that apply where a user or client is located.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when the website, services, or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will be posted on this page. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised website Terms, but does not replace any consent required for clinical services.
16. Accessibility
If you require this website information in another format, contact Tender Threads and we will make reasonable efforts to provide an accessible alternative.
